Neilly Group (NG) was engaged by Reef Catchments to undertake site assessment, hydrologic modelling and 2D flood modelling of 18 streambank erosion sites located on agricultural and grazing farmland, caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie, on seven creek and river systems in the Mackay Whitsundays region. The photo above shows one of these sites.
The project involved the subsequent concept design of streambank erosion remediation works, estimation of quantities and costs, plus development of a business case to assist Reef Catchments in obtaining funding to implement the works under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) funding program. The submission was successful in securing over $3 million of funding to implement remediation measures at 12 of the 18 sites.
