Neilly Group (NG) was commissioned by the Fitzroy Basin Association to undertake a site visit at a cattle station, located between Rockhampton and Mackay in the Styx River Basin, and develop a design of remediation measures for a significant gully head cut located in the bywash of a ponded pasture. 2D flood modelling proved to be an indispensable tool in identifying both the mechanism by which the erosion was occurring and in developing the options to reduce further erosion risk. A photograph of the gully and a figure illustrating the 2D flood modelling are shown. The car at the top right of the gully photo provides perspective. The project was funded by the Australian Government Reef Trust II Programme.
